Rural Cycling & Kayaking in Kerala

Day1: Thattekkad: You will start your rural cycling in Kerala from the busy city of Kochi to the quiet environs of the lowland forests at Thattekkad. As you ride through the countryside, rural Kerala welcomes you through its rice fields, spice plantations and numerous rivulets of the Periyar River. When you arrive at the Hornbill camp located on the banks of the river Periyar, you could take a walk around the plantation areas that surround the camp or go kayaking on the river in the company of your guide on the first day of your rural cycling in Kerala.
Day2: Palai: On this day of your rural cycling of Kerala, you will be discovering more of rural Kerala as you cycle through the sylvan Keralan countryside towards the trading town of Palai located at the foothills of the Western Ghats. Here the countryside is a mix of rubber plantations and spice-growing villages. The ride will take you to the farm villa where spices and ayurveda plants are grown. On this rural cycling tour in Kerala, you reach this place ideally suited to relax with a book, or take a walk through the village.
Day3: Alleppey: Today you will transfer to the backwaters to start your backwater kayaking in Kerala near the town of Alleppey. This is a journey of discovery of the lives of the people that dwell along the meandering backwaters, rivers, lagoons and lakes that make up the legendary backwaters of Kerala. The food is kuttanadan style and spiced up to provide a treat for you with its own sea-food specialities.
Day4: Pulinkunoo: This day of your backwater kayaking, you will paddle to another part of the backwaters lined with stately heritage villas, a reminder of the halcyon days of the great agricultural traditions of the people who live here.
Day5: Depart: End of your rural cycling and backwater kayaking in Kerala.

I just wanted to talk about the wonderful experience we had with Kalypso this past month. My families 6 day trip to Kerala was one of our most memorable because everything was planned so well by Kalypso. I would like to especially thank Sujith for the awesome itinerary. It was wonderful to see a new side of India. People were very nice, the food was amazing and the natural beauty of Kerala was breathtaking.
