Tour Overview

Go on a camel safari at Chambal, watch tigers at Ranthambore & view the magnificent Taj at Agra - all these would be the highlights of a journey of discovery as you travel through the historic kingdoms of Central & North India on this Rajasthan family adventure holiday! The journey starts and ends in the capital city Delhi.

Rajasthan Family Adventure Holiday

Day 1: New Delhi
You will be starting your Rajasthan Family Adventure Holiday in Delhi. On arrival at Delhi, you will be met at the airport & transferred to your hotel. You will also have time to explore Delhi. There's the wonderfully manic bazaar at Chandini Chowk, the majestic mausoleum at India Gate, the Presdient’s Palace and the ancient monuments like the Unesco heritage site of Humayun’s Tomb & the Qatab Minar & the vast Red Fort – the erstwhile centre of Mughal power.
Day 2-4: Taj - Chambal Safaris
Today you will make your way to Agra, visiting the Agra Fort & later on the Taj Mahal. Built as a symbol of enduring love by Shah Jahan who was the emperor of India, in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal, it is renowned for its unique architecture and aesthetic beauty. It is particularly worth seeing in the evening when the building changes colour as the sun goes down. In the evening you will travel on to Chambal where you will be staying at the award winning Chambal River Lodge. For centuries the forests and ravines of Chambal have also been home to the dacoits, outlawed gangsters whose exploits have been romanticized in several Bollywood movies. During the next two days, you will be exploring the area. You will be visiting The National Chambal Sanctuary. It is based around a 400 km stretch of the river Chambal, with its deep river ravines, rocky cliffs and tropical dry scrub forest. The sanctuary is refuge for the rare and endangered Gharial (a crocodile-like reptile with long, narrow jaws.) and Ganges River Dolphin. The water also supports Marsh Crocodiles, Smooth Coated Otters, 6 species of terrapins/turtles plus 250 species of birds. You will be going on a river safari with a naturalist to take in these magnificent sights. For centuries camels have been the preferred mode of transport in the Chambal ravines, and even today are the best way to gain access into the deepest recesses of these untamed labyrinths. You can take a camel safari along the rivers' banks, into the ravines, through villages and up to Fort Ater which is located on the periphery of the National Chambal Sanctuary.
Day 5-7: Tiger Safaris at Ranthambhore
Your next destination is Ranthambore. You will be travelling by train from Agra to Sawai Madhopur. Ranthambore, a former hunting preserve of the Maharajas of Jaipur, comprising of deep ravines and steep cliffs with thorn and dry deciduous forests all overlooked by an impressive eleventh-century fortress, Ranthambore Fort. As a result of stringent efforts in conservation, Tigers, the prime assets of the Park, have become more and more active during the day. More than in any other park or sanctuary in India, tigers are easily spotted here in daylight while you go in safaris into the park.
Day 8-10: Jaipur
After breakfast, you will travel onwards to Jaipur. Built in 1727 by Sawai Jai Singh II, who abandoned the rugged fortress of Amer to lay out a perfect palace-city, Jaipur today epitomizes the spirit of Rajputana - a fusion of history and modernity. Known as the ‘Pink City’, Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan. This royal city is known for its rich culture and tradition, exquisite art, handicrafts, jewellery, and its captivating historical significance. Many neglected palaces and forts have been converted into heritage hotels to give travelers a taste of royalty. You will be visiting Maharaja’s City Palace, Hawa Mahal and Jal Mahal, some prominent local monuments of Jaipur. Maharaja's City Palace is a complex of courtyards, gardens and buildings, and is right in the centre of the Old City. Next you can pay a visit to the winged and furry creatures of the Pink City. Spot over 70 varieties of birds, reptiles and mammals when you visit the Jaipur Zoo. Apart from Sambar deer and spotted deer, you can also see lions, tigers, panthers and leopards in the zoo. The zoo also has a separate section where you can see various kinds of migratory birds, depending on the season of your visit. Along with all this, the place also has a unique crocodile breeding farm, which is one of the best in the country. You will end the day with a visit to the Monkey Temple. Also known as Galwar Bagh or Galtaji, this temple is located in the town of Khaniya Balaji, Jaipur. It is interesting to note that monkeys from different tribes come here and treat it as their home, justifying the name of the temple in its true sense. The main deities of the temple include Lord Hanuman and the Sun God. The Monkey Temple is an excellent destination to visit if you are looking for a different experience.
