Kerala Homestay Tour

Day 1-2: Historic Fort Kochi
Explore and discover Kochi. You are sure to feel welcomed in this city of winding lanes, chinese fishing nets, colourful shops, great food and ferry boats moving about in the backwaters that surround Kochi. Walk through the old part of town where several Portuguese style houses, cobbled lanes, the famous St Francis Church, the Cochin Clubhouse, the Dutch palace (Mattancherry palace), the Synagogue, Jew town and many other vintage sights will charm you.  A live Kathakali performance would be a fitting finale to a perfect day.
Day 3-5: Spice Plantation Bungalow
You will move to a homestay tucked away in the deep interiors of Kerala, at the foothills of the Western Ghats, to an organic farm. From the patio of your room you can view the Sahyadri mountains, beyond the river and the forest. Here, you will visit the village, meet the people working their farms, learn to cook and maybe visit the local school during your stay.
Day 6-8: Backwaters at Alleppey
We will drive to an interior village located on the backwaters near Alleppey. Your destination today will be a beautiful Keralan style heritage villa along the banks of River Manimala. Cycling along these quiet friendly villages will give you the chance to visit the farmlands, watch the local brew ‘toddy’ being tapped or see the local artisan weaving coir ropes or coir mats. For those interested in a visit to the beach, you can take off for a walk along the local beach which is just a few minutes away. Delicious Kuttanadan cuisine is sure to light up your stay here.
Day 9-11: Beach Villa
A short distance away lies the Marari Beach and the beach villa is where you will spend the next 3 days - lazing on the beach, learning to cook from the family kitchens, visiting the local fishing villages or long walks on the beach !

Holiday Feedback

" I would like to thank you and your team again for making our holiday in Kerala so fantastic!!!! - - Angela Hanley-Cook  2015-03-09

I want to personally thank you for the wonderful experience. The itinerary suited us very well. It was just the right amount of activities combined with restful stays in really good and well chosen locations. The home stays were very welcoming, comfortable and offered us stunning food. Most of all we want to thank you for the two excellent guides. From the time Francis and Joji met us at the airport until the last day, we enjoyed their company immensely. They were kind, warm and humorous and most of all helpful in every way. They guided us through parts of Kerala that we might not have explored and always ready to respond to all our needs. In addition to which they are knowledgeable of local culture, wildlife and history. We could not have had better people accompanying us on our wonderful journey.Ava Wood 2016-02-25
