Time stands still amidst the serene coconut groves and gently flowing backwaters. The industrious village-folk and their silent pride in the surroundings and their lives are a stark memory you will keep forever. This beach and backwater cycling start at Fort Cochin where you will be met by our representative. From here you will leave the busy city-roads and ride along the beach road heading south. The route passes through rural villages and fishing communities. You could take the opportunity to interact with the locals and get a peep into their day to day life. Coir made from retted coconut husks is a major source of livelihood in this region and coir-making is a sight you won’t miss on while cycling on these roads. Toddy-tapping is another interesting sight in these parts and the fresh toddy available here is a unique experience along the village roads. Your coastal cycling which starts from the Chinese fishing nets at Fort Kochi will show you that fishing is an activity prevalent all along this region. As you cycle along the backwaters, the sight of the lone duck-farmer placidly herding his brace of whimsical ducks will surely bring a smile to your face and lightness to your hearts. At the end of the day when you arrive back at Kochi, you would have definitely promised yourself a more intense exploration along the same route later on.
